The Very Hungry Caterpillar Pop Up Book Design
“In 2007 Keith Finch and his partners were approached by our US Publisher (Penguin) to create a pop-up edition of the classic children’s book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar‘, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this enormously popular title. They conceptualised a treatment of Eric Carle’s book, providing an initial presentation of their vision for approval. Keith then created paper engineering and oversaw the art-working / design for the book and provided dummies and mock ups to review.
During the printing and assembly of the books, he and his partners shadowed the project throughout the complex manufacturing process. They also managed all the global co-edition requirements and attended press runs to sign off final copies.
The ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar Pop-up Book’ has been a great success and reprints around the world to this day.”
